چکیده
There is a diversity of locally available nitrogen (N)-rich organic materials in Samoa. However, none them was evaluated for their N supplying capacity after composting Samoan Inceptisols vegetable cultivation. Thus, N-releasing five composted amendments (OAs) namely macuna, gliricidia, erythrina, lawn grass and giant taro, two application rates (10 20 t ha−1) were assessed through laboratory incubation crop response study using Chinese cabbage as test crop. Among the OAs, mucuna characterized by higher total (2.91%), C (63.6%) NO3−N content (341 mg kg−1). A significant difference mineralization observed among OAs well rates. The highest recorded followed grass, taro. also showed similar trend. Mucuna treatment had biomass yield uptake Leguminous @ ha−1 performed substantially better all plant growth parameters, compared to 10 that not case non-leguminous OAs. should be applied at ha−1. All leguminous promising results while best both Therefore, can promoted supply cultivation Samoa, other Pacific Islands tropical countries where fertilizer costly easily available.

Growth inhibition in Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa var. chinensis) growth exposed to di-n-butyl phthalate.
The toxicity and effects of di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), an endocrine disruptor, on the growth of Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa var. chinensis) were studied. Etiolation occurred on leaves of Chinese cabbage plant treated with 50mg/L of DBP for 42 d. DBP even below 1mg/L had a significant effect on the concentration of chlorophyll in Chinese cabbage and the biomass showed a severe decrease under...

Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp. chinensis) is an economically and agriculturally significant vegetable crop and is extensively cultivated throughout the world. Heat stress disturbs cellular homeostasis and causes visible growth inhibition of shoots and roots, severe retardation in growth and development, and even death. However, there are few studies on the transcriptome profiling of heat s...

Salt stress is one of the major abiotic stresses that severely impact plant growth and development. In this study, we investigated the physiological and transcriptomic responses of Chinese cabbage "Qingmaye" to salt stress, a main variety in North China. Our results showed that the growth and photosynthesis of Chinese cabbage were significantly inhibited by salt treatment. However, as a glycoph...
متن کاملGenome-wide analysis and expression profiles of glyoxalase gene families in Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L)
The glyoxalase pathway is composed of glyoxalase I (GLYI) and glyoxalase II (GLYII) and is responsible for the detoxification of a cytotoxic metabolite methylglyoxal (MG) into the nontoxic S-D-lactoylglutathione. The two glyoxalase enzymes play a crucial role in stress tolerance in various plant species. Recently, the GLY gene families have well been analyzed in Arabidopsis, rice and soybean, h...
